Responsibilities

Employers who are approved to enroll employees in the PSATC Apprenticeship Program, have contractual responsibilities to ensure for proper stewardship of the people you are investing in.  Among those responsibilities are:

  • Train apprentices within the parameters of the program’s approved Standards and employer subscription.

  • Provide reasonably continuous employment.

  • Verify apprentice reported On-the-Job training hours.

  • Provide periodic apprenticeship evaluations.

  • Communicate with PSATC on apprenticeship issues/concerns.

Gearing Up -- Employers will also need to ensure that apprentices have the proper equipment to succeed in and out of the class. Most importantly, they need have access to a computer, laptop, and/or tablet.

How we Help You Track Progress of Your Apprentice -- Employers approved to enroll employees will be provided access to an app called “WorkHands” that has been customized to our needs – which is the key tool to track progress of your apprentices.  It is very user friendly and intuitive, and captures a robust amount of information available for employers to review.

Apprentice and Journeyman Wages: --Employers agree to the following wage schedule for each apprentice:

Pool & Hot Tub Maintenance Specialist: starting wage at no less than the applicable minimum wage or living wage (whichever is higher) for the county and City where the apprentice is working. During the second half of the program, the apprentice shall receive a minimum increase of $1.00/hour. Upon completion of the program, the apprentice will receive a journeyman wage of no less than $22/hour.

Pool & Hot Tub Service Technician: starting wage at no less than $22/hour. During the second half of the program, the apprentice shall receive a minimum increase of $1.00/hour. Upon completion of the program, the apprentice will receive a journeyman wage of no less than $28/hour.
